Delta System Driven Initiatives

While some may find working online to interface with municipal challenges, solutions, and outcomes; remote and hybrid work is here to stay. And with those examples of the Future of Work it should be natural to look at municipal applications for platform innovation and innovation ecosystems. First, connecting leaders from municipalities other than your own is going to generate a lot of fresh insight on common challenges. How do we do that effectively and efficiently today? Travel to conferences with panel events? THere’s still plenty of rationale for face-to-face time. But it seems like we are all in a bit of a rush to manage risks and outcomes that have no ‘lid’ at present.

SI 2 Delta System Driven Initiatives (DSDIs), or Delta Systems, are basically Project Management Offices (PMO), or ‘initiative backbones’ for short or longer range initiatives. A ‘startup’ new venture — whether that’s a business, a nonprofit, or government unit. A plan is great. But building what the plan is about means you know how much the plan costs. Low cost general purpose technology almost anyone can afford — Mindmanager, Podio, and Mighty Networks — are part of building the initiative architecture. Delta Systems deliver the SI 2 experience per the StratGen-client co-creation agreement and Solution Design Arena outcomes.

The client and their stakeholders can end up with a Delta System right from the start as the SI 2 Lab is ongoing and the other SI 2 components are ready to utilize and customize. Delta Systems are about integrating SI 2 Dynamism for client needs and per the past client experience and DIKUW (Data, Information, Knowledge, Understanding, and Knowledge) space and JEDI-WW (Justice, Equity, Democracy Innovation, Wealth and Wellbeing) mission.

A Human Ecosystem like the SI 2 Lab provides a ‘genius base’ to test your initiative out on prior to Go Live. We learn across the nation about new collaborative-collective intelligence practices in the SI 2 Lab and share research like the Mural Collaboration Trends Report. We can use Mural or other technologies, and otherwise experiment developing your individual, organization, and/or trans municipal Delta System.

Since not many folks work with concepts like a ‘PMO’, It’s perfectly okay to start with a strategy statement during a Solution Design engagement.

Strategic Communication is an important permutation or synergistic element of a public good initiative. Public safety and public health dynamics like HMC-OCN and recruiting emergency services, healthcare, and new political leaders — deploying stationary fuel cells when many can’t imagine such a thing — are about ideas, ethics, and education about a new future that works better than the present. All the strategic details that follow the Big Idea you want folks to head towards first need social synergy around the big idea.

Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are actually effective. When it comes to HMC-OCN for example, talking about why the old “This is you brain on drugs” PSAs are a cliche is a perfect good ‘High Magnitude Truth’ Opportunity Departure Point so everyone knows what not to do. Therefore the entrepreneurial search for a truly spectacular and workable Big Idea is what’s left.

PSAs are not a silver bullet either. But if the background strategic innovation mechanism is powerful, a PSA is an ‘opener’ to grab engagement and to introduce a region — or the the nation — to a dynamic new initiative on Day One. Updating the Big Idea and covering differing dimensions, especially as the plan interfaces with reality, and keeps up the longterm dynamism.

Stay tuned for Delta Systems.
